Lorry driver jailed in France for drugs smuggling is freed | Glasgow and West | STV News: "Alistair Campbell, from Killin in Perthshire, spent three years and three months in prison after he was accused of organising an attempt to bring 117kg of cocaine into the UK.

His mother used her savings to fund a legal battle which has overturned his conviction and nine year jail sentence.

The French judge who freed the 49-year-old expressed serious concern over the handling of the case by the authorities in the UK and France.

The case started in 2000 when Scots lorry driver Jeffrey Logan was caught near Calais with three boxes containing the cocaine.

Logan told the French authorities he had been told to pick up the boxes by Mr Campbell, a fellow lorry driver from Scotland."
