I was naive about Gerry's coke use admits Duffy as Dunne attacks star's silent pals - National News, Frontpage - Herald.ie: "RTE star and close friend of Gerry Ryan, Joe Duffy, has admitted he had been completely 'naive' about the presenter’s cocaine habit.Joe, a Clontarf neighbour of the Ryan family, said today that he couldn’t believe that the drug caused his pal’s death.
The Liveline presenter’s comments come as businessman and former cocaine user Ben Dunne said today that Gerry Ryan’s RTE friends were “weak” for not talking about the star’s cocaine addiction at the time of his death.
However, Joe Duffy said that he “knew nothing” about Gerry’s cocaine use.
“I was taken aback by the revelation at the inquest,” Joe said on last night’s RTE programme Spirit Level.
“I knew nothing about what was coming, unfortunately. Maybe I'm naïve, but I didn't.”"
