Italian police seize cocaine worth $340m: "Italian police seized a tonne of pure cocaine worth up to $340 million on Monday hidden in four tractors on a ship coming from Brazil, as part of a joint inquiry with British police.
'This is the biggest cocaine seizure in Italy in the last 15 years,' said Salvatore Cagnazzo, commander in charge of the investigation from the Carabinieri paramilitary police.
The cocaine was found hidden inside the tractors unloaded from the Italian ship in the port of Gioia Tauro in southern Italy after a tip off from Britain.
'We tracked down the machinery with the help of SOCA,' he said, referring to Britain's Serious Organized Crime Agency. No arrests have been made yet."
